As soon as the chat closes, billing will stop. If there was a technical problem on your end, you can open your browser and log back into the chat. You may also be disconnected if the performer leaves the chat for any reason.
Performers have the ability to permanently block users from their chat. If you are blocked, you won't be able to visit that performer again.
